Angelina Jolie as Maleficent
In 2010, Director Tim Burton helped the Disney remake of "Alice in Wonderland". In 2013, he is expected to help bring another Disney remake to life, this time the 1959 Disney classic, “Sleeping Beauty.” With a twist... the new movie will go by a new title: “Maleficent.” As the title suggests, this version of the fairy tale is told from the perspective of the story’s villain, Maleficent.
Angelina Jolie has publicly said that she would love to work with Tim Burton as the evil fairy Maleficent, and he said he would 'love to work' with her.
She has said: "It's all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favourite. Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary".
The Disney studio has hired "Alice in Wonderland" screenwriter Linda Woolverton to write the new script from the point of view of the “Mistress of All Evil.”
Tim Burton's style is dark and abstract, which seems perfectly suited for a movie centered on Disney's most popular villain (according to our poll). One thing is for certain, “Maleficent” will be unlike fairy tale we’ve ever seen.
Angelina Jolie has not been confirmed by Disney as Maleficent.
