Mozenrath
Mozenrath is a powerful teenage sorcerer and the exact opposite of Aladdin. He is power-hungry, cruel, and cold, and often violent in his anger fits. Xerxes, his flying eel/lamprey-like companion, is usually the victim of his master’s bouts of anger. Xerxes also speaks in raspy, broken English.
Little is known about Mozenrath’s past, but some things can be inferred from his words on the TV show, such as when Mozenrath spoke of Destane, a powerful sorcerer whom even Jafar feared, whom was also the former ruler of the Land of the Black Sands. Mozenrath was probably the apprentice to Destane, and judging from the sarcasm in “He was like a father to me,” Mozenrath showed he didn’t appreciate Destane all too much. Mozenrath overpowered Destane at some point, killed him, turned him into an undead Mamluk and took over his authorities.
Abilities
Mozenrath’s abilities are quite equal, perhaps even surpassing to those of Jafar, earning him the nickname “Jafar Jr.” from Iago. They include teleportation, telekinesis, and flying, but are not limited to those alone. Mozenrath has in his possession many magical artifacts, and although he has an extensive knowledge of magic, he is rendered quite helpless without them.
Mozenrath, although young, is physically frail, the cause being his mental attachment to his most prized magical possession, the Gauntlet. It is always worn on his right hand and gives him extreme power, but such power comes with an equally great price: Mozenrath’s right hand has rotted away beneath the Gauntlet, (probably painfully) and leaves him with only his skeletal structure. His persistence in wearing the Gauntlet is undoubtedly the cause of his shortened lifespan and inability to hold his own (most of the time) in hand-to-hand combat. Sometimes in the series, though, Mozenrath has been spry enough to do so.
